Outdoor Activities in the Spring in Southern California

As the season of spring blossoms nationwide, there are physical activities to engage oneself in the great outdoors with sunny skies and calm temperatures. From biking to running and baseball along with more obscure hobbies such as disc golf and horseback riding, there is a diversity of sporting activities to be done by residents in any community area.

In Huntington Beach, Calif, there are plenty of conveniently located places for physical activity to take place. At Huntington State Beach, there is a trail available for public use for people who want to bike, jog or walk alongside the sand that leads to the shore. Competitive and casual bikers regularly traverse the Huntington Beach Bike Trail whenever the weather allows for sunny skies, which is a common occurrence in coastal Southern California.

Jogging and hiking are common activities in this area as well, with plenty of trails for people to explore flat and step terrain alike. Other beach activities include surfing and playing games such as beach volleyball, with plenty of nets set up on the sand near the bike trail. Younger adults tend to gravitate towards playing beach volleyball as a popular recreational activity during the spring and summer months of the year.

Away from the beach, there are other popular spots for engaging in outdoor activities. At Huntington Central Park, there is a frisbee golf course, a lake for recreational fishing and an equestrian center for horseback riding. As the largest city-owned and operated park in Orange County, Calif, Huntington Central Park is divided by Goldenwest Avenue with the western part of the park featuring all of the amenities listed above and the eastern part holding fields and courts for recreational athletics.

There is also another park not far from Huntington Central that provides some of the activities for the local community to enjoy and access. The Fountain Valley Sports Park is located on the west side of Mile Square Regional Park in Fountain Valley, Calif, with baseball fields and soccer fields available for kids playing in local leagues for Little League Baseball and the American Youth Soccer Association.

No matter the age of the person or the time of day, participating in outdoor sports during the spring is good for the physical health of any community member, regardless of where people live in the country. Just don’t forget to stay properly hydrated and know what limits someone’s body can tolerate while exercising in any way possible.
